“So let’s go over this one together right?” Jack said looking through the green light of his podium. “Been a hectic couple of weeks, right?”
“You could say that again,” Seth shook his head. “The three that Key gave Celestial powers to are all taken down.”
“Hawk’s dead and he hasn’t done any crazy Frankenstein acts as far as we know,” Marco said and looked at the rest of them. “And honestly I’m glad for that. Having a giant monster fight in the sky isn’t something I need to see him do again.”
“Yeah it’d be hard to plan a ceremony that’s for sure,” Jack smirked.
Sarah rolled her eyes, “You’re not planning shit. If I let you anywhere near this thing my Tia would flip shit.”
“Can’t imagine his mom would be okay with it either,” Marco said chuckling. “Well I guess my mom? That’s weird to think about.”
“What are you three talking about?” Kathryn asked raising her eyebrow.
“Well you see,” Sarah looked away the golden light around her masking some of the changes in color on her face. “My idiot of a boyfriend proposed.”
“And I guess we said yes,” Marco continued. “And having some kind of wedding ceremony involving all of us is going to be hard to do if Jack’s dead.”
“Oh my God,” Kathryn clapped her hands together smiling brightly.
“Congrats,” Seth said nodding his head slightly. “Take advantage of the fact that we averted a crisis.”
“Exactly,” Jack said and pointed. “He gets it.”
“Anyway. What happened to that woman? I think her name was Vixen or something like that?” Sarah asked and folded her arms. “She was a pain in the ass to fight with. Both times.”
“She’s in the hospital recovering, Hawk did a number on her. But she’s going to try and get away from everything. Stay out of the public eye for a long time since she’s famous and all. Thought, we’re supposed to get coffee when she recovers so that’ll be. Cool.”
One by one they looked at Owen and once he realized he had all of their attention he smiled scratching the back of his head. Despite the pink light that shrouded him they could tell he was more than a little embarrassed. But he was smiling none the less.
“So you’ve got a date now kid?” Seth asked raising his eyebrow. “With a movie star no less.”
“It’s not a date,” he said quickly raising his hands. “It’s just coffee.”
“That’s a date,” Kathryn winked at him. “But that means the only problem left is Key right?”
“The rival celestial in the sky,” Jack said shrugging. “I doubt any of us want to try and fight one of those. I don’t even think we could if we wanted to.”
“No you would not,” Ley said materializing before them all. They looked at the six of them before settling on Owen who stood at attention, arms at his side. Ley chuckled looking at him and waved a hand. “You do not have to be to formal around me Owen. Unlike my sibling I’d prefer to be friendly with you.”
Owen blinked quickly and finally relaxed a bit, “Oh. Sorry.”
“It is understandable. They are very different than I.”
“Speaking of your twin. What’s going on with that?” Seth asked. “We gonna have to do this song and dance again or are we done?”
“The situation should be resolved. Or at least as resolved as it can be,” Ley said and despite not having many facial features they seemed to be exhausted as they looked down.
“What does that mean?” Marco asked a bit more gently. “Is your twin still dangerous?”
Ley shook their head, “For the time being no. Which is why I am able to return here to you now. To tell you what is happening.”
“Walk us through the entire process Ley,” Jack said. “From the top.”
“Ah. I guess that is warranted,” Ley nodded their head and raised their hands, spreading them and showcasing the galaxy. And then from the light came a figure made of light with a flaming head. Unlike Ley or Key something about them was brighter, vibrant. It was hard to explain. Like comparing a star to the sun.
“As you all are aware, myself and Key were once two halves of the same whole. But many years ago, we split into the two beings that you are familiar with now. Locating my sibling in the cosmos took some time but I was able to find them. And I forced a conversation between the two of us. My sibling’s animosity toward me has been quelled for the time being. My work with them is not done but for now I can say that the danger to you all has been put to an end for now.”
“So assuming we’re stupid, that mean’s we’re safe from your twin trying to kill us?” Jack asked and smiled.
Ley nodded their head, “Yes. I will continue to talk to my twin and to ensure that they keep themselves away from this part of the galaxy. I do not want a repeat of events here. Especially for you six.”
“I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say we appreciate that Ley,” Marco said and let out a breath of relief.
“You got that right,” Sarah said.
“Seconded,” Seth added.
Ley nodded and looked toward the rest of them to make sure that the others agreed with this statement. “I will not be within this galaxy as I speak with my twin. I will work with them to ensure that whatever grudge they hold with me is settled between the two of us along with watching over your planet. I have grown fond of this little blue ball and you all.”
“Aw shucks Ley. Sounds like you really like us,” Kathryn said and smiled at them.
Ley nodded slowly and spread their hands, “As you may have noticed up until now. The power flowing between you has begun to feel more at home within you than ever before. As a natural evolution of these abilities you are fueling them. I may have been their catalyst but you are the source. I await to see how it may evolve.”
“Evolve?” Marco asked. “What do you mean?”
“You all are more than human now. Not quite celestial but something else.” Ley replied. “I wonder what we should call you.”
Jack looked at his ring and the rest of them slowly and grinned, “How about we start calling ourselves Celestial Knights? Sounds like it has a good ring to it.”
