Terran Knights 3: Chapter 16

“What did you just call me?”

“Yeah, what did you just call her?” the blue woman asked.

She glared back at the woman and shook her head, “Look we’re stranded here for a while Captain. We gotta figure out a way to survive here. That means this.”

Rolling her eyes, she scoffed and looked away from her, “Whatever Jenny. This is your mess now. Call me when it stops being a ship wreck. Come on Zier.”

Jenny looked at her, reaching toward her and then sighed. She looked at the other woman and Sarah knew that look. The pleading ‘help me out’ look that she did to her fiancés when she knew she was in trouble. The woman shook her head, gave one look toward Sarah and kissed Jenny’s head lightly before she went after the blue woman leaving Jenny and Sarah behind.

Watching Jenny blush and hide her face, the way Sarah often did, made her shudder. There was no way she could be her daughter. No matter what she looked like or how she acted. And she looked very much like Sarah when she was younger. For her to have had her she would have had to been born when she was seven or close to it.

Jenny looked at Sarah and walked over to her, holding out her hand. Sarah stared at it but hesitantly took it. When she stood up, she was a little shorter then Jenny.

“You look exactly like the pictures. It’s,” she reached out to her slowly but took her hand back. “You’re so young.”

“I’m only twenty six,” Sarah said almost self-consciously.

“Right yeah. I’m just used to you older. Like a lot older.” She giggled looking down.

Sarah folded her arms, “How old is that?”

“Uh. I don’t know. You never liked giving me a real answer,” she said. “I think there was a four in there with a three but I won’t say the order.”

“Are you saying you’re from the future?”

Jenny nodded quickly, “Yeah. It’s a little hard to explain.”

“Do your best,” Sarah said skeptically and rolled her eyes.

“Technically I’m not even supposed to be talking to you. But you weren’t supposed to be there. We were supposed to come down on the island not the water. And you and dad weren’t supposed to see us coming down.”

“Dad? You mean Jack?”

“Mmhm. I mean. I have two dads,” she beamed. “But I’m dad’s daughter. Papa is different if we were getting legal. But they’re both my dad’s. And you’re my mom.”

For a moment Sarah didn’t hear what she said. Instead she focused on what she’d said. Dads. Plural. Jack, her and Marco not only made it through this rough patch but they had a daughter. A weight lifted off her chest and she sighed. For a moment she didn’t even question her potential daughter from the future.

“Sorry about earlier by the way. I didn’t mean to blast you like that.”

Sarah snapped back to reality and scowled, “Could have fooled me. It didn’t hurt but it did a number on my suit.”

“Well it shouldn’t have. It’s kinda your stone.”

“What?” Jenny made a face, one of Jack’s faces, and Sarah rounded on her narrowing her eyes. “What are you talking about? Assuming I even believe you’re my daughter, which is insane, now you’re saying you have my stone. Wait you mentioned Jack earlier. We were in our armor. How do you even know about that?”

She made that same face and sighed. Raising her gloved hand, she turned it around and in the center she could see a flat stone in the center. It was yellow and when she looked closely at it she saw close she saw a small spark of electricity within it.

“This is my stone. Everyone has one like it,” she glanced over her shoulder. “We’ve been a team together for a long time. We travel around the galaxy helping as many people as we can. Lot of dangerous criminals out there and not everyone is able to deal with psykiks.”

“Psykiks. That word. Ley mentioned that the other day. Wait Ley. The damn celestial. Did they give you the stone? Did they choose you? I swear if they chose my daughter.”

Jenny raised both her hands quickly, shaking her head. “No no. It wasn’t like with you. We chose this. Me and Alice did at least. Rizier joined before us. And captain. Well that’s her story. She’s far from her home planet. Zier too honestly.”

“Another planet,” Sarah put her hand against her head and leaned her shoulder against the wall. “Stop. Stop talking for a second.”

“Sorry mom. I know it’s a lot. It’s a lot for me too sometimes. I’m just. It’s awesome seeing you,” she smiled and blushed looking down. “I haven’t seen you in a long time.”

“What do you mean? How long has it been?”

“We’ve been in space for almost two years now. This is kinda the first time I’ve been home. Even if it’s not really my home.”

Jenny looked away and shut her eyes, wiping at one hard. Sarah’s eyes widened slightly as she realized she was fighting back tears. She closed her eyes smiling, “Sorry mom. I’m oka-“

She was cut off as Sarah hugged her tightly and gasped. Her face was pressed against Sarah’s shoulder. She hugged her tightly and bent her head down crying gently. Sarah frowned slightly and brushed her hands through her hair. She didn’t know if she believed she was her daughter for real but she knew what it was like to need a hug.

They stayed together for a while, longer than Sarah would have normally but something about it felt right. Eventually Sarah stepped away looking down. “I have to go. Jack is looking for me.”

“Oh right. I did kind of kidnap you,” she smiled. “I have to talk to my captain but I’m sure we’ll see you again. Soon.”

“Okay,” Sarah made a face and saw hers and Jack’s features in her again. But at the same time, she was all her own person as well. Looking at Jenny she finally smiled. “I’ll see you later.”

Jenny waved and watched as Sarah glowed, covered in yellow light before turning that into her armor. She looked at Jenny for a moment longer then jumped, hitting the wall and then sprinted back toward the pier.
