Terran Knights 3: Chapter 22

Where it was going on the evening for them in Chicago it was early morning in China. The great wall was shrouded in a thick mist that obscured the ground below. The stone had been through better days. But then it again it stood the test of time now and in the future so it was probably a sturdy thing.

It was even strong enough to take the hit from the ship that had crashed into the wall rampart. It sent stones raining down into the forest and trees below. It was stuck in the stone, the exhaust pipes pointing upward. The cockpit glass kicked off and a shape climbed out.

It slithered like a snake with three arms moving across the ground. Its upper body was covered in green armor. The red visor flashed and showed the symbol of Legion on it. Its lower body was blue scales with a pale yellow underbelly. A gun was slung across its back like a rifle, keeping it steady as it climbed forward.

It hissed raising its head to the sky and raced forward going across the walls. It stayed on the path, going to one of the edges and sat up slightly. As its arm pulled it forward the third one went in front of its face and it looked toward where it landed on the planet. It made a rumbling hiss as it sat up staring at the sky again for clarity.

“Would you look at that. Poor thing looks lost.” It stiffened and whirled around, its arms moving to grab the gun from off its shoulder and pointed.

Walking forward Jenny tilted her head back and forth slowly. She had thin armor that covered her body, bright yellow with intricate black lines across the body to her chest, and a sharp angled helmet. Light pulsed from her chest, going out to her limbs from the crystal in her body.

It hissed at her pointing the gun threateningly. Jenny smirked behind her helmet. Just one of these things wasn’t going to be a problem for her. It didn’t make a noise as it pulled the trigger and the gun began to charge before firing. She jolted to the side, dodging it and then darted forward.

The creature moved the gun quickly firing after her but missing narrowly as she closed the distance. It lurched backwards and hissed cocking the gun. It lobbed an orb of light at her and her eyes widened. Jumping backwards it hit the ground and exploded. She slid backwards and held her hand outward.

Her axe appeared, a double sided one with a flat top and curved edged. It hissed and leaned up firing another series of bombs her way. She grabbed the handle of the axe and split it apart down the middle. The blades shifted backwards and a line of light appeared between the tip. Rolling to the side she pulled back on the energy string and loosed arrows from the sudden bow.

Through the smoke and light of the bombs she darted forward, running along the line of the ramparts. She drew back her arm and jumped forward firing her arrows quickly, knocking the gun from its hands. It looked down at the weapon shocked. Jumping after it Jenny closed the limbs of the weapon reforming the axe and brought it down on the aliens back.

When it struck the lightning exploded against its armor and blew it into the opposite side. It slid down and then went limp. Coming forward slowly she turned the axe in hand and brought it down over head of the soldier and her lightning came down cracking the helmet entirely.  Hefting it over her shoulder she turned and raised her wrist.

“Done on my end. How’s everyone else doing?” she said.

“I am also finished with my task,” Rizier replied.

An explosion went off down the wall and her head jerked upwards. She stared as down the wall an explosion of light pierced through the thick mist.  “Glad you guys are doing good! We can use some help over here!” Ya’Cahin shouted and then the signal got interrupted.

“Zier?!”

“I am on my way co-captain. Jump off the wall, I will carry you.”

Pausing she shook her head and took a few steps back and then jumped off the edge of the wall. She sank toward the trees then was grabbed by the wind. Looking over at her side she saw Rizier with similar green armor, their multiple arms out, guiding them forward. “What happened? I thought things were simple.”

“They were but it seems that we only had scouts while the captain and Alice had the real threats.”

“Let’s get over there Zier. Fast!”

They covered miles of wall and came to the point of the explosion. There was a giant soldier looking like a hulking monster. It was armored like the others the same but each time its fists, hit an explosion of energy shattered pieces of the wall. In front of it were the red and black knights, Ya’Cahin and Alice. They looked battered and tired as the soldier rushed at them.

It started forward bringing down its first over the pair of them. Rizier came down and swung their arms the wind blasting into its chest and made it flinch backwards. Jenny came down from the sky, opening her bow and firing several times into its head and back as it stumbled backwards.

“Nice timing babe,” Alice jumped forward bringing down a machete, the weapon reversed and slicing across the aliens chest. It roared as the sword cleaved through the armor. When she hit the ground, it exploded with energy and sent the soldier stumbling backwards.

Getting her bearings together Ya’Cahin raised both her hands together. Red pistols appeared in her hands and she darted forward. Pressing them together they fused, forming one long rifle.  She jumped aiming at its head and fired sending a huge beam of fire, blowing its head and chest away. Its corpse fell on the other side of the wall and she landed wincing.

Resting the rifle at her side she sighed, “Seh’hun. That was a pain but we got them all. Sucks about the wall.”

“This was a wonder of the world,” Alice said making a face. “My great grandparents would lose their minds over this.”

“It does not seem that this was their full strength. Scouting strength at best,” Rizier said looking over the wall. “Legion is feeling us out.”

“It’s doing more than that,” Jenny looked at her glove. “There’s another signal. It’s already come down in the city. More than just these guys.”

“Then let’s go now,” Ya’Cahin said nodding and they turned into light and shot into the sky.
