“You’re really a psykik now,” Ya’Cahin asked staring at Marco very interested.
“I think so,” he said looking at the white stone in his hand.
Cal and Marco along with three of the Astro Knights and the celestial stood together around the temple. Sarah and Gen were noticeably missing. Unlike Marco, she had to go to her day job especially since Jack was missing. Marco gave her the quick update using Cal’s phone. He’d left his at home before rushing off to the temple that morning. The moment she was free Sarah would beam up to meet them.
Alice had been silent ever since they’d arrived, not speaking much even to Jenny when she asked directly. Jenny knew something was off about her and would press later. In the mean time she stood beside her and didn’t let go of her hand.
Ya’Cahin walked up to her fellow red knight and met his eyes. He didn’t know what to expect from her but he stood his ground. She was still wearing the watch from Cal so she looked every bit as human as he did.
Her eyes glowed bright blue and a different energy hit him. It wasn’t like the surge of adrenaline like power they got from using their stones. This was something more lowkey. Something that glided along his skin, like gentle rain or a breeze.
Marco reacted with his own and it was nowhere near as polished as hers. The rain a little heavier, the wind stronger but not violent. His eye glowed a soft red to the shock of Cal beside him. But what really surprised everyone was the crystal glowing in response to them both, turning a combination of red and blue and messy purples where they mixed.
Ya’Cahin held up her hand, her palm out to him
“Seh’hun,” she mumbled looking back at her co-captain. Jenny beamed at him and nodded quickly. “Wonder what you can do with it.”
“So far I’m not sure what to call it. It’s like combining everyone into one place,” he looked at his hand and stared at the white stone. “Ley says my powers are connected to my team. And I can feel them. Feel their minds with mine. I just. I just need a chance to get them.”
“What did you do to Owen?” Alice asked. “He looked like he’d taken a lot of damage. And whatever you did, we all felt it.”
Marco shook his head, “I just channeled my psykik power when armored up. And I got a power up bigger than the one from two years ago. Legion didn’t stand a chance against it. But it ran out before I could try and free Owen.”
“Do you really think you can free him?” Jenny asked feeling Alice tense beside her. “Free all of them?”
“I don’t know. I need more experience with it,” he said offering her a small smile. “But I know I can reach them. For all our friends I’m going to figure it out. I have to.”
“And we’ll be there to help you along the way,” Ya’Cahin said smiling.
“Captain.”
Ya’Cahin turned around to look at Alice. Alice met her gaze steadily but the captain could see that something was clearly wrong. Her features softened slightly and Ya’Cahin came forward. “What is it Alice?”
She hesitated as she looked at her, wanting to say something more. Wanting to explain what had happened but she knew the effect it would have on her. Looking past them, she stared at Marco and Cal. Close friends but she knew they weren’t Ya’Cahin’s crew.
“It’s something I want to talk to you about in private. Please.” But she looked past her to Marco, Cal and Ley. “No offense.”
“None taken,” Cal replied. “I should be heading back home soon.”
They waved and disappeared into three colored beams of light in the air. They came down in the outskirts where the crystal had initially crashed down. They had moved the ship to occupy that space. It wasn’t broken beyond repair and they were definitely going to need it to go back home.
As they landed Rizier came out to great them. No longer wearing the goggles or the jacket, they had all four arms out, two holding tools presently. Through the bandages their multiple eyes blinked addressing all of them.
“Welcome back my friends.”
“Thanks Zier,” Ya’Cahin turned back to face her human teammates. “Alright we’re in private. Unless you just want it to be the two of us?”
“No this is fine. While we were fighting Legion it sent two knights down. One was Owen. But the other was Tahu.”
The silence was loud.
Ya’Cahin stared at her shaking her head, “That’s not possible. They’re dead. Our ship was blown up. I barely survived!”
“I know. But it was him,” Rizier replied nodding toward her. “And if he survived.”
“The others could have too,” Ya’Cahin said slowly.
“More than that. His stone was still working,” Alice said.
Ya’Cahin stared at her and shook her head quickly, “That’s really not possible.”
“Apparently it is,” Alice frowned folding her arms. “When you came here you had the broken remains of the old stones that your previous team had. They reacted to me and Jenny and it’s how we got my earth stone and Jenny’s thunder one.” She raised her glove and they did the same. “Their stones were broken but maybe there was enough power for Legion to use.”
“That’s a big obstacle if that’s true,” Jenny said frowning. “But if papa can do what he thinks he can, we can break that control right? Is that even possible Rizier?”
“The theory is there,” Rizier replied. “But it’s untested. It could have any number of risks. But in the same token we have to try something. As things stand, I do not believe we can defeat Legion with just us. Especially now knowing that your pervious team are amongst them.”
Ya’Cahin folded her arms, “We just wait then. Bide our time until Marco is ready or has some progress. I hate doing nothing but we’re not going to do nothing. We can work on the ship. Come on you guys. We’re gonna help Rizier.”
Alice said. “As long as we get to stream a movie while we watch.”
“If you say Daughter of the Dragon I’m going to scream,” Jenny said eyes shining.
They shared a look, a kiss, and a laugh as they went into the ship.
