Terran Knights 3: Chapter 41

“Why didn’t you save us Ya’Cahin?”

She tried to pick herself off the floor but she felt the boot against her back again. Xilo stood over her, leaning forward slowly. She could hear the explosions and gunfire from the fighting of the others.

“I’m not going to get tricked or guilt tripped by you,” Ya’Cahin said.

“Is that how you feel? After everything we’ve been through? Do you remember Verius? That was a good time.”

“Shut up! Stop acting like you’re him! You’re not Xilo!”

Xilo bent over, his wings buzzing as he looked at his successor. Grinding her teeth together Ya’Cahin harnessed her psykik energy and it burst around her blowing the possessed knight backwards. Xilo’s wings spread as he caught himself on the air and he darted right back at her.

She watched his arms thrust forward daggers of fire appearing between his digits. She dove to the side bringing up her gun taking aim at him. She let off a few shots but they went wide, scattered away by his wings. She hopped forward raining fire upon him but he absorbed them with his daggers.

Turning the gun around she fired behind her and was propelled forward kneeing him in the face. Letting out a screech he flew away and Ya’Cahin landed on her feet. Whirling around she started running toward the cage that held Ley.

While the fighting got heated the possessed knights had made a point to prevent any of them from getting close to it. Even going so far as to take hits instead of letting them disrupt it. So that meant it was important to Legion and if it was important to Ley she was gonna wreck it. Before she got close a bomb was lobbed her way.

She barely had time to register what kind it was before she was blown backwards across the floor. Tahu watched with a short smirk of satisfaction before they slid backwards doing their best to avoid the axe and machete combo of Alice and Jenny. The pair had taken up all of Tahu’s time with a well calculated and practiced offense.

The zorg hopped backwards again creating another trio of bombs. Lobbing two of them at the pair they tossed another below their feet. Jenny split her axe into the bow form shooting them out of the air neutralizing them. Alice sprinted after Tahu stomping the ground and sending a column of stone out of the ground. Turning she kicked it at the machine knight.

Raising their arms, they blocked and stumbled almost collapsing to the ground. Taking her moment Jenny made her axe again and lunged at their head. Before it could connect, she was shot out of the air by a bullet of water. She crashed into the floor and into Alice’s waiting arms.

Ula cocked their gun back again and whirled around to face off against Rizier again as they slashed with their arm. The wind scratched across the floor and the zorg blocked with the body of the gun. Rizier darted closer their arms moving in a flurry of punches. Ula couldn’t block them all and was shoved into the ground.

Moving their arms quickly Rizier brought their hands together and the wind collapsed around the Zorg. The wind raced and came together like a prison, forming a sphere around their entire body. It shrunk smaller and smaller, the wind grinding against their metal limbs

Xilo floated forward wings fluttering to a halt. But he jolted slightly and then stared at the Astro Knights. When he spoke his voice was multilayered. “Your efforts here are annoying.”

“Get used to it Legion. The amount of damage you’ve cause. The people you’ve hurt. You’re going to be put away for a long time,” Ya’Cahin said. “I’ll make sure of it.”

“I don’t think so. You see I have something in this past that I lacked in the future. Something that will tip the scales in my favor. Unfortunately, you will not be here to see it any longer.”

“You think you can get rid of us that easily,” Alice asked and scoffed. “We’re not letting you get away again. Not even a black hole could stop us.”

“No it couldn’t. I’ve abandoned simply killing you though there are some efforts that remain effective. I have no more use for these bodies.”

“No more use,” Jenny repeated.

Xilo bowed his head slowly and laughed, “I cannot be rid of you in this body but your companions are more than equipped for this.”

Both Tahu and Ula had their armor drop away to regular robots. And when it did their heads tilted back. Glowing red orbs appeared at the base of the zorg’s necks and Rizier’s eyes widened. “Captain they’ve been modified into bombs. They’re going to explode. We need to get out of here.”

Ya’Cahin stared at them and her heart sank, “No. No! We have to stop them. We can stop them. We can reverse this!”

“Ya’Cahin,” Jenny sad gently and she jerked away from her. “I’m sorry but we have to go. Or else we’re going to join them.”

Her captain didn’t response and instead turned back toward Xilo. She stared at her former mentor and knew that she was talking to it. To Legion. It stared back at her and she could feel the laughter. “All things have beginnings and ends. I am going to my beginning. You are meeting your end. Good bye Astro Knights.”

Xilo slid down and collapsed against the floor. “Seh’hun!” Ya’Cahin screamed and stared at the pair of zorgs. The people that she’d called friends for years. She shook and then turned aiming her guns at Ley’s cage. With one concentrated blast of fire she shattered it. Ley’s eyes shot open and she met them for the barest of a moment, nodding quickly.

“Ya’Cahin? Is that you?” She froze staring at Xilo, staring at her former mentor. It wasn’t Legion. It was his actual voice. It was her old friend. He stared at her with his compound eyes and she almost didn’t keep going. He laughed shaking his head, “Thank you Yaya.”

She almost didn’t leave. She reached out to him and screamed. Light covered her visor and the next thing she knew she was flying through space. The ship and chunk of the moon were engulfed in light. The light engulfed the sky like a pillar. Almost everyone on Earth could see it illuminate the sky.

The Astro Knights and Ley stood together staring at the moon. Rizier stared at it shielding their eyes, while Alice lowered her head. Ya’Cahin sank to her knees screaming at the ground and Jenny rested her hands on her shaking shoulders.
