It was the middle of the night and Ryza found herself coughing. To call it that wasn’t fair though. It was something more labored and deeper in her chest. Something she couldn’t taste. Something she couldn’t just touch. Something that was deeper. Hurt more.

Ryza’s eyes opened and at first she saw nothing but darkness and her heartbeat accelerated. She sat up quickly and let out a muffled cry as she sank back down. But as she looked properly her eyes adjusted. She saw the dark stone ceiling. She could smell the sheets, smell the fur, and the air.
The pair of wulves raced out of the eastern border of the city and transitioned to the desert. The First was a lot faster than Ryza had realized, almost like she was flying as she leaped across the dunes. Ryza wasn’t quite so graceful but she was able to keep up.
“You really love this form, don’t you?” Snow looked at her blinking slowly and then nodded resting her massive head in Ryza’s lap. The wind moved slowly over the short desert grass. The sands shifted gradually down the dunes as they did. The sun shone down with its harsh golden glare, accompanied by the trailing white clouds. The blue skies were welcoming now though in the distance there were dark grey clouds threatening something like rain.
June 2022 Update
Good time of reading for all of those interested in the library. Here is a bit of a status update now that we are halfway through June.
It was night now. She wasn’t sure how she knew that without opening her eyes. All she knew was that for sure when she opened her eyes it would be dark outside.
