Jack crouched low his scythe resting behind his back. Hawks had his wings spread and then launched at him. Jack ducked underneath the attack and spun his scythe around slashing across his chest. Both of Hawks wings caught the weapon and then slashed across his armor sending him sliding across the rooftop.
Hawks turned on the air and darted at him. Before he could get close though purple bullets slammed into his wings and he sank into the rooftop. Flipping back up to his feet he turned to face Marco as the red clad knight charged forward.
Marco fired a few blue shots at the ground created steps that he took jumping high into the air spinning the revolver. Settling on the yellow bullets, he used his arm to aim the shot and fired it. The bullet of electricity spiraled at Hawks and he spun around it, shrugging off the first hit.
Standing up quickly he raised both hands as the shining green blade dug into his gauntlet armor. Jack dragged his scythe back ducking low and swung at Hawk’s ankles. Hopping into the air he avoided it and then he flapped both wings and launched himself high into the air to put space between himself and them.
Going a few dozen feet above them, he spun around and flapped. The wings flashed in the sunlight as dozens of feathers flew forward like a storm of blades. “Get back Marco!” Jack jumped in front of him spinning his scythe around like a turbine scattering the feathers away.
Hawks pumped his wings ascending high above the city the wind whistling across his helmet. Looking behind him, he slowed and spread his wings ready to dive again. But he narrowed his eyes and only saw the flash of red. The air shifted around him and suddenly he wasn’t alone.
Looking over his shoulder he saw Jack and Marco both over his shoulder. Turning in the air the scythe dug deep into his scythe. Lunging forward he grabbed Jack by the wrist and swung him around punching him hard in the stomach. Letting him fall he stamped on his chest, kicking them both back toward the ground.
Jerking his head upward he heard a sharp click. Bullets erupted from the gun as Marco shot aiming at his wings first and foremast. Hawks protected himself with his other wing taking the brunt of the damage. Diving through the bullets his hand shot forward grasping Marco by the throat and spun throwing him after Jack.
“You made a mistake following me up here!” Flapping both wings forward he dove after them.
Marco caught up to Jack hearing the wind roaring in his ears like a tornado. Rotating around he looked up to see Hawks on his way down, “Marco!” he looked back down at Jack who had righted himself as well with his arm out stretched.
“You’re crazy you know that?”
“Hell yeah.”
Thrusting his arms back he dove down closing the distance between them as fast as he could. Throwing out one armored hand he grabbed Jack’s hand tightly. Turning mid pull he spun and threw Jack back into Hawk’s path. His lover spun his scythe around and slashed at Hawk.
Hawk’s wings did the brunt of the work, blocking the scythe swing tearing into the feathers. As Jack got closer Hawk punched hitting Jack’s arm, cracking the armor. Jack winced but got closer and head butt him hard knocking him backwards and getting above him. Clutching the weapon with both hands he spun at cutting at Hawk’s back.
Hawks hands slammed together catching the blade between his palms. Flexing his shoulder one of his wings slammed into Jack’s side and bashed open his armor. With a knee to his stomach he stomped on his chest and kicked him back toward the ground.
They hit the ground one by one in explosions of concrete and dust. It took a few minutes but they dug themselves from the ground. Marco leaned on his gun as he pulled himself up and looked toward his boyfriend. “Jack you okay?”
“I’ve been worse,” he replied standing up and touching his stomach. But he winced stepping forward. He felt the air against his stomach and knew that his armor was cracked. Even broken. “I mean, I died once.”
Marco rolled his eyes and stumbled forward getting his bearings, “You’re not funny.”
Both turned and jumped to the side as another shape went skidding along the ground. A flash of blue and purple next to them and they knew Katherine and Seth arrived next to them. Seth had both his arms hanging at his sides, the shields cracked to pieces. Kathryn looked at the pair of them and waved.
“Hey, you guys doing alright?”
Jack shrugged, “Been worse. You?”
“Not dead,” Seth replied and grunted raising his fists. “That guys a pain. Won’t stay down.”
As if on cue he watched Aegis stand up his armor cracked along the chest and knuckles of his gauntlets. Even the visor of his helmet was broken but he showed no sign of slowing down. Hawks came down from the sky and landed beside him letting both wings fall against the ground. “You look like you’ve been having fun kid.”
“This isn’t about fun,” Aegis replied not looking back at him.
“If you’re not having fun this isn’t worth it.”
An explosion behind them and they all looked too the side as a torrent of fire belched onto the street and finally ceased. Vixen walked forward slowly her head down and hints of blue hair poking out of the back of her helmet. A large fox was at her side it’s head low. She was limping slightly and as the smoke cleared she shouted and threw a shape forward, along with the fox.
A pink light flashed as Cal hit the ground and Sarah rolled past him. Cal groaned against the ground and Sarah stirred slightly trying to get to her feet but only got to her knee with some assistance from Marco. She looked at him and smiled shakily. “Sorry handsome. Going to have to sit out for a bit.”
Vixen stood up straight and scoffed, her fox sitting at her side. “I guess I’m the only one competent enough to do my job.”
